Bulletproof Democracy

Be in no doubt. We're hearing gunshots everyday. Our netas are trying to kill an ideology that our nation has so proudly stood by for more than six decades. Yes, you got this one right, it's democracy.

Roads filled with numerous potholes which mirror the loopholes in our system, flyovers with an overwhelming tendency to collapse, government hospitals in which the mortuaries keep setting new records in terms of intake, electric poles that threaten to electrocute you whenever there's a drizzle....these are just a 'phew!' of the long list of problems. But we don't seem to care much. Some of us don't even bother to vote. We bribe government officials for getting our personal deeds done. For us,'progress' and 'development' are just terms that figure in those Annual Economic Reports(which nobody reads anyway).
But aren't progress and development meant to be in our daily lives too? As long as we don't question the injustice, corruption and stagnation...as long as we're complacent with the hypocritical system,no change happens. Period. Being calm doesn't help. We should demand for our rights. We've got to wake up!! Let's make our democracy bulletproof, so that no ugly politics can kill it.
Did somebody say a revolution?

Here's something to contemplate about

Here's a story for you. The characters are Guy1 and Guy2(Both Indians).
DAY 1: Guy1 is walking on the road, Guy2("The bad element") comes along on a car, opens the window and throws out a banana peel. Guy1 puts on a disgusted expression, says "Irresponsible idiots" and gets on with it.
DAY 2: Guy1 is walking on the road eating a banana, finishes it off, looks around for a dustbin, doesn't find one in a five meter radius, sighs and throws the peel on the road.
2 MONTHS LATER: Guy1 is walking on the road eating a banana. What's different is this time is he is in the USA. He finishes it off, looks around for a dustbin, doesn't find one (Let's please assume that he doesn't), sighs, puts the banana peel in a paper bag and takes it home.
Alright, why is this guy behaving so oddly? Well, welcome to India, a land of paranoid people(Myself included). We are all big talkers, hypocrites, and have a put on personality(for places like the USA). We always wait for the other guy to take the first step, oh..and of course we love blaming others.
I leave the unasked questions and their answers to you.

A way to start

The problem of pollution has always been there, though we cannot prevent it here's an innovative way to reduce it; Some of us are fortunate enough to own a vehicle, many are not, the unfortunate majority use public transport which is many a time crowded and uncomfortable. So, the fortunate among us could do something for others; whenever there is room in our vehicles be it a car or a bike, we should pick up some people from bus stands and railway stations who are going in our way, this way we can save lots of time and energy for others without having to spend any ourselves and save lots of fuel!!. If everyone with a vehicle adopts this culture of concern for others we will be able to make a considerable change.
